As a Customer Success Engineer at Aspect Build, you will be on the front lines helping customers successfully use Bazel and Aspect’s products. You’ll combine strong technical skills with a customer-first mindset to diagnose issues, resolve problems, and improve the overall customer experience for developers building at scale.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys debugging complex systems, helping other engineers succeed, and improving tooling and documentation based on real-world usage.
What You’ll Do
- Respond to and resolve customer support requests related to Aspect Build products and Bazel on the dedicated customer support Slack and in the support plan consulting hours.
- Debug build, test, performance, and CI/CD issues across diverse environments
- Reproduce issues, analyze logs, and provide clear, actionable guidance to customers
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to escalate, track, and resolve bugs
- Write and improve documentation, FAQs, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge base articles
- Identify recurring issues and propose product, tooling, or documentation improvements
- Help define and improve support processes, SLAs, and tooling as the company grows
What We’re Looking For
- Experience as a software engineer, build/release engineer, DevSecOps engineer, or technical support engineer
- Hands-on experience with Bazel or strong familiarity with build systems (Bazel preferred)
- Comfortable working with CI/CD systems and modern development workflows
- Proficiency in at least one programming language commonly used with Bazel (e.g., Go, Java, Kotlin, Python, C++, JavaScript/TypeScript)
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
- Clear written and verbal communication skills, especially when explaining technical concepts
- Empathy for developers and a strong customer-service mindset
- Ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced environment
Nice to Have
- Experience supporting developer tools or infrastructure products
- Contributions to open source projects
- Familiarity with monorepos and large-scale codebases
- Experience with GitHub Actions, Buildkite, GitLab CI, or similar CI systems
- Experience working in a SaaS or developer tools company
