# Aspect docs in your AI assistant

***

![An AI assistant's answer citing a section of an Aspect docs page](https://mintlify.s3.us-west-1.amazonaws.com/aspectbuild/images/marketing/illustrations/shipped-docs-mcp-server.svg)

Ask an assistant to migrate a YAML task to AXL and it writes something plausible from whatever it saw in training. AXL is newer than that.

The Aspect docs are now served over the [Model Context Protocol](https://modelcontextprotocol.io/), so your assistant can search the docs, read a full page as Markdown, and cite the page it used. One command in Claude Code:

```shell theme={null}
claude mcp add --transport http aspect-docs https://aspect.build/mcp
```

That endpoint is anonymous and serves every public page: Aspect Cloud, the Aspect CLI, the open-source rulesets, and the training courses. Aspect Enterprise customers can use `https://aspect.build/authed/mcp` instead, which adds the installation and configuration pages after a one-time OAuth login with an Aspect account that has customer docs access.

It's useful for the jobs where the docs matter more than the model's memory: converting YAML tasks to AXL, extending Gazelle in Starlark, upgrading Aspect Workflows, or wiring the Aspect CLI into CI.

It serves docs only. To hand an agent your builds, logs, and flake rates instead, see [build results over MCP](https://aspect.build/shipped/build-results-mcp).

[Aspect docs in your AI assistant](https://aspect.build/docs/cli/guides/mcp.md) has setup for Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and VS Code, plus the one-click options in every docs page's menu.
